Sarah Kember is Reader in New Technologies of Communication at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her work spans new media, photography, and feminist science and technology studies. Her books include: Cyberfeminism and Artificial Life (Routledge, 2003) and Inventive Life. Towards the New Vitalism (Sage, 2006). She has just finished writing a new book, with Joanna Zylinska, for the MIT Press called Life After New Media: Mediation as a Vital Process and has also published her first novel entitled The Optical Effects of Lightning (Wild Wolf Publishing, 2011). She co-edits the journal photographies and is currently researching the links between photography and technoscience through face recognition technology. She is a consultant expert (in alien mediation) for SETI-X (the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence - in Exile).
